Stories from Maya Firdevs Terzi
“Terzi,” translating to Tailor in Turkish, is more than a name; it’s a thread that connects memory, craft, and identity. When my grandparents left areas of Yugoslavia to begin a new life in Türkiye, Terzi was picked as the family name. This became a symbolic act of rebuilding, creating, and shaping for our family.
Though my family weren’t tailors by trade, my grandmother found joy in sewing and knitting, weaving beauty from what she had. That quiet creativity became a language of care and resilience, one that continues to inspire everything we make at Terzi Evi.
Growing up, I spent my summers along the Aegean—between Istanbul, where my family lives, and Bodrum, their second home. The Aegean is part of me: Türkiye and Greece together in one horizon. It’s where sunlight meets sea, where cultures overlap and stories intertwine.
Now, I draw from my double heritage—Persian and Turkish—and blend the crafts of the Middle East, sewn together through seas. Every piece at Terzi Evi is completely handmade and sourced from places I connect with, like Türkiye. Each design is an ode to a piece of my childhood, to the textures of my travels, to memories passed through generations.
Terzi Evi is a home for stories, a continuation of heritage, and a love letter to the hands and histories that shape who we are.
